What is a Cooperative?
The Seven Cooperative Principles
Cooperatives and mutuals are member-owned organisatinations formed to benefit members rather than shareholders. Non-distributing cooperatives are not-for-profit entities which distribute any economic surplus back to its mission and purpose.
Coops and mutual organisations have been serving Australians for more than 175 years.
8 in 10 Australians are members of at least one cooperatively owned organisation. Co-ops and mutuals have a staggering combined membership of over 31 million in Australia.
