Moruya Dreaming 2.0

Project Background

In 2011 Rev. Linda Chapman, rector of the Anglican parish of Moruya (a young and passionate Chaplain new to St John’s Anglican Church, Moruya), asked her congregation what their hopes, dreams and aspirations were for the future of the parish and Moruya.

The process of gathering their answers was informal and organic, but many of those ideas have come to fruition as a result of this conversation we now fondly refer to a “Moruya Dreaming 1.0” .

Projects which grew from Moruya Dreaming 1.0, based at St Johns Moruya, included:

  • Red Door Café and Community Centre

  • A Labyrinth

  • The Moruya Repair Café (in collaboration with SHASA)

  • Community vegetable plots

  • Moruya Micro-Forest (in collaboration with The Climate Factory) to establish a flourishing micro-forest on-site

  • A Resource Hub for local community groups

  • The Moruya Commons Council

and many more great community-led initiatives.

Fast forward to 2026 and we live in ever-changing and uncertain times.

We think now, more than ever, we need to start the conversation again, and ask our local community

“What would make Moruya a healthier community?”

The Moruya Dreaming Project

Inspired by the work of Rev Linda Chapman (but independent of it) the Circle Foundation are developing a creative and inclusive community codesign project called

“Moruya Dreaming 2.0”

If you would like to find out more or get involved, we would love to hear from creatives, people with experience working in community and other interested parties to help us design a great community project in which every citizen can contribute to what a healthier future Moruya looks like.
